- The Interviews!
Gareth Scott from Electrobronze
gets us started...Feb 2003
How long have Electrobronze been together?.
Electrobronze have been together
from December 2000 . I had been recording music as Electrobronze for about 12 years before
that , but only letting friends etc hear my ramblings .
How did you all meet?
We met a year earlier through
our place of work , Sainsburys in Derry City . We all performed solo at the BBC Music Live
event in May 2000 . I had the drive to finally do something cause an old school
friend of mine has had a succession of 6 top 40 hits and my belief was - "I can play
synths better than that , right ! Im going to do something....." . And here we are.
How do you operate as a band are you a
primarily a live band or do you concentrate on writing and studio work?
We mainly are a studio band ,
but weve been lucky enough to do a few great gigs . Weve done a live BBC
session at BBC Radio Foyle in 2001 , We performed in 2002 at the Heartbeat Charity Concert
in Derry City.
How much has OMD influenced your own songwriting?
The song writing has been
influenced in two ways - Sounds and Style . I always admired the way Andy constructs a
song and have been guilty of using his blueprints on a few occassions. And those Choral
Synths...........! (Overpowering ? Moi ? LOL !!!!)
Which OMD song first caught your ear?
Enola Gay was the first song I
heard , But I will never forget seeing the video for "Maid Of Orleans" on
TOTP.They played the intro and I was blown away !!! I thought "This is weird , but
great !"
Which is your favourite OMD album?
Favourite album either
Dazzleships, or Liberator . A great compliment to each other .
Dazzleships for sound experiment and innovation , Liberator for song-writing and
arrangement.
Other than OMD, who do you count amongst your
influences?
My CD collection reads like the
Electropop Top 10.........Kraftwerk , JMJ , Human League , Depeche Mode , Erasure , Yazoo
, Pet Shop Boys , Yello , Ultravox , Moby , Chemical Bothers , New Order , Gary Numan ,
Blancmange , Soft Cell, err.......... thats the Electropop Top 15.......in no given
order , but Kraftwerk at the top of the pile for influence .
Where do you see Electrobronze going in the future?
We are together to enjoy
ourselves and have fun making music ,as long as this continues , Im happy ! For the
future ....... Radiowaves 03 and more Covers for the Site.

Thanks to Garreth for giving us a
little insight into Electrobronze. Their excellent version of "King of Stone"
will feature on We Love You and have other cover versions available on this site.
Electrobronze have also contributed original material to our In the Style of
section, demonstrating their considerable song-writing skills.
Electrobronze will be performing at
RadioWaves03 this year
Dont miss them!
